Sample do not work with AIR 1.5.3

Hi All,

We tried the samples with AIR 1.5 and they worked like a charm. However, when we changed the application descriptor file from 1.5 to 1.5.3, they did not work anymore.

For instance, with System-demo sample, when I click the 'GetVersion' button, I got an error (see the attached screenshot). I checked the Aperture Console tool with Process Explorer and it appears that the apsystem.dll is not loaded. Same behaviour when I packaged as an air application.

I rollbacked the application version to 1.5, 1.5.1, 1.5.2 and it worked. So it seems to be related to AIR 1.5.3.

Do you plan to fix it? (It does not work with AIR 2 either).

I checked the release notes to see changes and I think it may be related to the publisherId handling (http://blogs.adobe.com/air/2010/02/important_development_workflow.html) and the localConnection connection name (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappshtml/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7c7e.html).

How does the fluorinepp.dll talks to the localConnection in the AIR app?
Do you plan to release the source code?

Aperture is really a good tool and we plan to use it.

Hi,

I was wrong, samples work when using the adl tool but not after an AIR packaged install. The strange thing is that when I launch the Console.exe, the installed AIR application works. So it seems the Adobe AIR team made some changes here. Any idea ? Or should we try another solution ?

Thanks reporting this problem. It happens when publisher id is missing from the release build.
Download the attached file and replace your existing fluorinepp.dll

I downloaded the new version 1.0.0.4. The system demo works now as before, but if I add the publisher id in the -app.xml file, it fails again. Starting from 1.5.3, we can specify a <publisherID> tag.
I also tested using AIR 2.0 beta 2 and it still now work even with 1.0.0.4.

Could you fix this ? How can I help ?

Hi, thanks for the new release.

I start trying the SystemDemo sample but it does not work as expected. Then I realise that the new fluorinepp.dll in the new release can be found in the Debug directory only. So I put it in the SystemDemo source tree and it works !! We can specify or not the publisherID when the application descriptor file has version 1.5.3. So many thanks for the fix ! But you may check the release package and put the new dll in appropriate places.

I decide to test the same application with an AIR 2.0 beta2 runtime. Oops, this still does not work. The Adobe Team may changed something. Do you work to support AIR 2.0 or do you plan to do so ? I guess the final release will be for June or July, so very soon (since they want to support android).
